Get your iPhone ready: Apple’s new iOS 18 software update is rolling out late Monday.
The updated version of Apple’s mobile operating system is bursting with new features and improvements
All told, the update should give you more ways to customize your iPhone’s home screen and settings than ever before.
Usually, it is available as a free download that you can install on the Internet. Here’s when you can get your hands on iOS 18, including when it’s expected to be released in the UK and around the world.
We know iOS 18 is confirmed to be landing on iPhones today, but how much time can you grab it?

In the absence of an official launch time, we can take a stab at estimating an ETA based on Apple’s previous release schedule.
If history is any guide, iOS 18 will roll out to the world at the following times today:
- 6pm in the UK
- 10AM Pacific/1PM Eastern
- 7:00 pm in most of Europe
- 10:30 PM in India
- 1:00 AM (September 17) in China and Singapore.
Apple has not confirmed exactly when iOS 18 will land, so we recommend that you keep an eye on your iPhone settings if you want it right away.
What about Apple Intelligence?
Apple Intelligence is a new AI-powered system from Apple devices.
Apple’s headline feature was advertising iOS 18 as a powerful new set of AI tools, labeled Apple Intelligence. These new tools can create amazing emojis on the fly, summarize and rewrite emails, prioritize notifications, and delete people and objects from photos.
There’s one problem: Apple Intelligence won’t be available in iOS 18 when it’s unveiled later today. Instead, new features will roll out gradually over the coming weeks and months as part of a future update, starting with iOS 18.1 in October.
Meanwhile, the next generation of emoji (or Genmoji as Apple calls it) may not arrive until iOS 18.2 in December. And, you may have to wait until next spring to get the new and improved Siri, which boasts better natural language skills (and welcome to ChatGPT).
The iPhone 16’s new Visual Intelligence, which turns the phone’s camera into a visual search engine, is one of several AI features that won’t be available at launch.
